Parents

Reflective capacity is at the heart of nurturing and resilient relationships.

The Reflective Parenting Program (RPP) model provides a strength-building method that can help parents to successfully navigate within their own unique circumstances and to repair the disruptions that inevitably occur within the parent-child relationship. By focusing on developing their reflective capacity, rather than just searching for quick or easy answers and parenting techniques, parents learn new ways to communicate with their children and to feel more confident in their parenting.

The Reflective Parenting Program Workshop Series is a 10-week supportive and experiential parent group. Discussions centered on topics such as temperament, responding to children's distress, separation, play, discipline, and anger, actively engage parents in the process of discovering, listening to, and beginning to trust their own experience as they begin to think in new ways about the meaning behind their children's behavior. Parents begin to recognize how their capacity for reflection can serve as a powerful tool toward building stronger and more satisfying relationships. As parents begin to "see" their children in a different way, even high conflict interactions are transformed into manageable opportunities that deepen understanding and connection and allow for growth in both the child and the parent. Children begin to learn that "ruptures" are an inevitable part of relationships, but also that the "repair" of ruptures is possible as well. This helps children to feel more secure in their relationships and provides them with tools that will be critical to their capacity to form and maintain intimate, mutual, and supportive relationships in the future.

RPP Workshops are at held at variety of locations near our base in Southern California, as well as in other regions where we have trained RPP Certified Group Leaders. We also sponsor presentations that are open to the public which discuss reflective parenting and related parenting topics.
